After the all this attention, the actress came forward with how close this character is to her heart

Anushka was extremely grateful for all the love Mamta is getting on the internet. She talks about how she loves Mamta’s simple look. It’s just a saree and no makeup. She also remarks how it would take her just 20 minutes to get ready for a shot; the look is just that simple.

The costume designer for the film said that he got the inspiration for Mamta from a lady he’d see often in his childhood; every Saturday, a lady from the nearby temple would come over to collect donations. That lady served as the inspiration behind Mamta, who is now officially an internet sensation.
